Installation Guide
Installation Guide
This guide provides general installation tips for CarInterra car interior PPF kits and automotive display screen protectors. Always follow any product-specific instructions included with your order. Installation results depend on surface preparation, dust control, alignment, tools, environment, and handling technique.
Before you start
- Check that the product matches your vehicle model, year, trim, screen size, and interior layout.
- Inspect the product before installation. Do not install a product that appears damaged, incorrect, or contaminated.
- Choose a clean, dry, well-lit indoor environment with minimal dust and airflow.
- Wash and dry your hands before handling the film.
- Avoid installation immediately after using oily cleaners, waxes, dressings, or interior protectants.
Recommended tools
- Microfiber cloth
- Dust removal sticker or low-tack tape
- Screen-safe or interior-safe cleaning solution
- Squeegee or soft installation card
- Spray bottle if the product supports wet installation
- Good lighting
Important handling notes
- Do not touch the adhesive side with your fingers.
- Keep the adhesive side away from dust, lint, hair, and moisture unless wet installation is specifically recommended.
- Do not bend, crease, stretch, or force the film into position.
- Do not use sharp tools directly on vehicle surfaces or screen glass.
- Do not install over dirt, fingerprints, residue, ceramic coating, wax, oil, or interior dressing.
Screen protector installation
- Turn off the display. A dark screen makes dust and alignment easier to see.
- Clean the screen. Use a screen-safe cleaner and microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints, dust, and residue.
- Remove remaining dust. Use a dust removal sticker or low-tack tape. Check the edges and corners carefully.
- Test alignment. Before removing the liner, place the protector over the screen to confirm orientation and fit.
- Peel the liner carefully. Avoid touching the adhesive side.
- Align and apply. Start from one edge or center point, depending on the product design, and lower the protector slowly.
- Push out air. Use a microfiber cloth or soft card to move bubbles toward the nearest edge.
- Final check. Inspect the edges, corners, and cutouts. Small air pockets may settle after a short period, but dust or debris under the film usually requires reinstallation.
Interior PPF installation
- Clean the surface. Remove dust, fingerprints, oils, and interior dressing from the trim area.
- Dry the area fully. Moisture or cleaner residue can reduce adhesion.
- Confirm piece location. Match each film piece to the correct trim area before removing the liner.
- Test position first. Check edges, button openings, curves, and corners before applying pressure.
- Apply gradually. Start from a stable alignment point and work outward using light pressure.
- Use a soft squeegee. Push air toward the edges. Do not use excessive force.
- Work around curves slowly. For curved trim areas, use gentle pressure and avoid overstretching.
- Inspect edges. Make sure edges are seated and free from dust, lifting, or trapped moisture.
Wet installation note
Some PPF products may support wet installation, while some screen protectors or adhesive films may require dry installation. Do not use water or installation solution unless the specific product instructions allow it. Using liquid on the wrong product or electronic area may cause damage or poor adhesion.
After installation
- Avoid touching, cleaning, or pressing the film edges for at least 24 hours where possible.
- Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cloths, alcohol-heavy cleaners, or sharp tools on the film.
- Clean gently with a soft microfiber cloth.
- If an edge lifts, do not pull the film aggressively. Check for dust, moisture, or misalignment first.
Common installation issues
- Dust under the film: dust was likely present before application or touched the adhesive side during installation.
- Bubbles: small air bubbles may be pushed to the edge; bubbles caused by dust may not disappear.
- Edge lifting: the surface may not be fully clean, the film may be misaligned, or pressure may not have been applied evenly.
- Poor fit: confirm the vehicle model, year, trim, screen size, and interior layout match the product.
- Creases or stretch marks: the film may have been bent, pulled, or forced during installation.
